SIRIUS "BREAKS" GROUND WITH DJ PIONEER GRANDMASTER FLASH

NEW YORK, NY (April 7, 2005) - SIRIUS Satellite Radio announced today that pioneering DJ Grandmaster Flash will host a new weekly mix show to be heard exclusively on SIRIUS.

Grandmaster Flash is widely credited as one of the first DJs in the world to combine songs from a variety of music genres - rock, pop, jazz, blues and R&B - into one mix. His early work, including the early '80s song "The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of Steel," was the precursor to what are now commonly known as "mash ups."

Grandmaster Flash's new Flash Mash mix show will air on Saturdays from 6 to 9pm ET starting April 16 th on SIRIUS' Boombox channel 61, "the home of the breaks."

"I'm using the same template for this new show that I used in 1971, before hip-hop started - a combination of pop, rock, jazz, blues and R&B," said Flash. "I'll be talking about the use of samples, what certain songs mean and where they came from, and playing what I feel," he added. "I'm calling out to all the labels throughout the world to send me their stuff, because this is going to be an amazing mix."

Last year Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were nominated for inclusion into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the first DJ and hip-hop artist to be nominated for inclusion. Flash was also inducted into the Bronx Walk of Fame, and had a New York City street named after him.
